Underwater Shock Analysis
Civilian Use

Underwater Shock Analysis is the analysis of underwater shock phenomena against structures (subsurface and surface)

Among the many applications in civilian uses:

  • Hull design and analysis

  • Equipment analysis

  • Analysis of shipboard systems under primary forces and secondary forces.

The same methods can be applied to other problems, such as:

  • Off shore drilling platforms forces and vibrations

  • Vulnerability under collision of equipment and electronics

A widely accepted method for analysis is using finite element and boundary
element techniques to predict dynamic response of different underwater shock
on the structures to long range and immediate underwater shock. Lagrangian
finite element methods are commonly used to model the structure, while
Eulerian or boundary element methods are used to model the water.
